How to install this system on your flying site
Weather station
We provide electronics (assembled and tested), box and cables, battery and solar power panel. And some plastic and metallic straps to mount the system on the mast.
You have to find the appropriate mounting spot, install the mast and make sure it's strong enough to carry the weight (around 1.2-1.5kg total). The place must have some sunshine for solar panel.
Usually we install the system on the top of 4meter metallic mast (25mm diameter), which is long enough and strong enough. If your area has very strong winds, it's a good idea to secure the mast with the strings or ropes.
Please, don't forget to recharge the battery and connect everything together. As soon as you install your weather station it starts to collect the data and send it over a radio link.
Receivers
There are a few options to receive the data.
Receiver with LED panel
Bright and easy to read LED panel, low power consumption. Can be powered from wall adapter as well as from car cigarette lighter. It's very useful in the car as well as just hanging on the wall in the club house, where everyone may see what's going on at the mountain top.
Receiver with LCD screen (early prototype)
This is the original version of receiver with LCD screen, which could show not only weather data, but station name and other informaton. Can be powered from wall adapter as well as from car cigarette lighter.
This receiver shows also the mountain name and the temperature. However, display size is not so big and may be difficult to read from the distance.
Receiver with Internet upload
This receiver can connect to the Internet and upload the received data to this web site. On the top there's antenna for wireless communication, on the bottom there's Ethernet connector to attach to your router or internet hub. It connects directly to the network and does not require any computer running 24/7.
It looks quite simple, but actually it's the most complicated part in the whole project. Inside there's 600Mhz ARM processor with 64MB of memory running Linux to process the data.
Do It Yourself
This part is not finished, DYI parts and schematics will come later.
DYI means you have to buy some parts and put everything together yourself. DYI version gives you ultimate freedom to get anything you like and put it together in any way. Except one thing, if you want to display your data on this web site, you'd better use our standard receiver with internet capability.
Still, more details will come here later...
